Regulations

Customs regulations are very uncomplicated in Italy. Yachts entering the country must visit a Border Police Office where the skipper is required to present a crew list and passports.

If travelling from another EU country, there is no requirement for customs clearance. However, if travelling from outside the EU (e.g. Montenegro), please contact our office for help.

Please note: a non EU-flag boat entering Italy will be granted 18 months of temporary import. After that period, the boat must depart for a non EU Country, unless the owner pays the VAT on the value of the boat.

Even leaving for one day beyond the EU to Montenegro satisfies this requirement, before returning to renew temporary import for another 18 months.
